Screen Capture... The Vista Way...

Way back when... I blogged about easy screen capturing in windows... Well now there is Microsoft Vista and the methods I listed in the blog no longer work. But luckily... It's still easy... Super Easy I say!

With the introduction of Microsoft Vista there is a nifty new utility called the "Snipping Tool".

And boy it makes screen capturing easy.. To access this new tool click the start "Pearl" and type snipping tool in the search box. It will provide you quick access to the program and on first use should ask if you want a short cut added to the windows quick launch bar.

The basic interface looks like so:

Whats cool here is you can choose how you want to "snip" your "snip"..

You can do a Full screen "snip"... If using dual monitors, it will include both:

A window snip... Just select the window you can to "snip" and you're done.

or

You can do a rectangular "snip".. Just draw a box around the area you want.. Another cool thing is the ability to "Highlight" areas of the capture before you save it.

Or you can do ..... Free Form Just click and draw any shape you want.

This new program is a great addition to windows and, although better than previous "built-in" capturing abilities, this is still a very limited program (no "timed capturing). But seems like it would be great for the occasional capture.
