BlogCFC 5.9.1.001 - Tests

So Sorry for the lame post... Again... But I need to test a new feature that has been added to BlogCFC. BlogCFC now includes... Podcast support! Not that I have a podcast... but it is a neat feature none the less. So, this test should provide a little player below to play my sample file.

*** Update: First attempt= FAIL, possible I borked the upgrade. gotta check

*** Update #2: Works now. Hear my lovely voice below ;)

Happy FireFox day!! FireFox 3 released

It's FireFox download day!! The Official release of Mozilla's FireFox browser is up and ready to download. Traffic on the site seems a little high today as it took a few times before my connection to their site went through. So, be diligent, get out there and start downloading!!

Get Fax Receipts from SBS 2003 Fax Services

This had eluded me.. But I just found the solution so I thought I would post it... I had to reinstall a Windows 2003 Small Business Server last week.. This particular customer made use of the Fax Service. Before the reinstall the Fax Service would e-mail a receipt through Exchange to the sending user but this was no longer happening.

After a little digging I found the reason why.. It was not turned on. So, to turn on The Fax receipt function in SBS 2003 you will need to do the following:

  1. Open Server Management.
  2. Right-click on Fax (Local) container.
  3. Select "Properties".
  4. Select "Receipts" tab.
  5. In the Message Box, enable the "Enable Message Boxes as receipts" checkbox.
  6. In SMTP E-mail, check the following:
    1. "Enable SMTP Receipts e-mail receipts delivery" is enabled.
    2. "Use these SMTP Settings for the Route through E-mail incoming routing method" is enabled.
    3. Under Authentication, try setting to Anonymous access if not set already".
That should do it.. Now your users should get e-mail receipts from their sent faxes.

Moving a SSL to a new Server (IIS 6.0)

Ever had to move an SSL to a new server? Well I have and, I can never remember the steps. I end up spending and hour or so just looking it up on the web so I can accomplish this 5 minute task. It's pathetic really. But, once you get them installed moving them is not something that you do everyday.

So, I've decided to use my site to hold these directions for the next time I SPAZZ out. Maybe they will be of some use to someone else?

Step 1: Create a Microsoft Management Console (MMC) Snap-in for managing certificates.

You do this by clicking "START" ---> "Run" ----> "MMC"

Then you will need to ADD the Certificates "Snap-In"

Click "File" ---> "Add Snap-in"

Mail Server Software Update

Just an update here... I've looked at a few new mail server programs and have decided to give MailEnable Professional a try.. I am looking at it and SmarterMail

Both Programs look Great! MailEnable does seem to require less system resources.. But other than that they seem to compare really closely. Except in Price.. But, I can deal with that if I have to. I'm trying MailEnable Professional because they offer a 90 day try before you buy. So I'm doing just that. I've migrated all my mail accounts over and am going to see how it works for the next few months. If there are no troubles I'll BUY it and keep it.. If it turns out to be a DOG then I'll punt and go another direction.

Doug Reynolds suggested I give google a try. But, the multiple Domain administration seemed problematic with them. Who, knows I may go down that path again... Depends how the trial goes.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll post my woes should there be any, don't you worry.

Mail Server Software

I'm in the market for some new e-mail server software... Anyone out there have any suggestions.

I'm currently using Capesoft E-mail server, which is great... Really in-expensive. It includes unlimited domains/users and is really easy to set-up. But lacks some other functions, Webmail for instance. I wrote a little Coldfusion webmail application but it is very basic.. Only letting the user read/reply/compose mail.

I'm looking for something with a good webmail interface, unlimited domains/users, easy to set-up/maintain, and Inexpensive. Remember, I'm Cheap. Looking in the price range of ... Lots less than... Exchange.

Just leave a comment with any suggestions... Pretty Please.

Vista Keyboard Shortcuts

I was doing some poking around on my keyboard to see what shortcuts where still working in Windows Vista. Thankfully all the ones I was used to were still there.. But, there had to be more? Newer... Groovier?? Well, here is a list of all the Windows Vista keyboard shortcuts. I don't know how Groovy these are... But they will be useful.
