Samsung BlackJack

September 1, 2007 By Robert Owen

Well.... For various reasons I've had to replace my Blackberry 7100g cell phone. When I first got it two years ago it worked really well for about 1 week... Then it started dropping calls, turning itself off, etc... So I went back to the Cingular Store where I got it and they made me call Blackberry and ... well.. they had me send it back and they sent me a refurb. Which, worked well until very recently. This phone started behaving the same as my first. So, I went into my local Cingular … [Read more...]

Annual Stella Lawsuit Awards

August 17, 2007 By Robert Owen

This week's Friday funny takes a slightly different direction.... Don't know if these are real or not.. probably not... But here goes: Time once again to review the winners of the Annual 'Stella Lawsuit Awards.' The Stella Awards are named after 81 year-old Stella Liebeck, who spilled hot coffee on herself and successfully sued McDonald's (in NM). That case inspired the Stella Lawsuit Awards for the most frivolous, ridiculous, stupid, but successful lawsuits in the … [Read more...]

Finding the Vista Telnet Client

August 13, 2007 By Robert Owen

From time to time I find that I need use of a telnet client... And, when I used Windows XP primarily, I would just drop to a command prompt and type the command. Well, that is not quite as simple in Windows Vista. By default, Vista doesn't include the Telnet client, but you can install it very simply by following these steps: 1. Open the Programs and Features Control Panel applet found: Start -->Control Panel -->Programs and Features 2. Select "Turn Windows features on or off." 3. … [Read more...]

Coldfusion 7

August 12, 2007 By Robert Owen

Well, Being as Coldfusion version 8 (aka Scorpio) has been released, I decided to try and get my server copy updated as well... However, being a CHEAP ... I decided only to move up to version 7.. I really couldn't pass it up. My server was running version 6.1 and I could have upgraded to 8 for ONLY $649.00.. But, Looking on EBAY I found a NEW... Still in the original package, plastic wrap still on the box, never opened, never used copy of the FULL version of CFMX 7.0.2. And, for ONLY $ … [Read more...]

MS Office Alternative!

August 7, 2007 By Robert Owen

I had a customer ask the other day if there was a "way" to get Microsoft Office without actually paying for it. Well, while there are "ways", none of them are legal nor are things I am willing to do. They only really asked about this because of the extremely high price of the new version. So, I decided to give a try to open office. If you are looking for a good, low-cost (no-cost), replacement for Microsoft Office.. Well, I suggest you give OpenOffice.org a try. So far I have found it simply … [Read more...]
