Disable Vista’s UAC

May 4, 2007 By Robert Owen

I've been using Windows Vista Ultimate now on my main computer now since March 18, 2007. And, I have to tell you I'm very pleased with the results. I've had one blue screen in that time... AND it was completely my fault, I tried installing a program that was not intended to run under vista. It said it was not compatible.. but I had to try and was slapped down for my cheek! Other than that, Windows Vista is turning out to be a VERY GOOD operating system. My wife is using a MAC book pro with OS … [Read more...]

Friday Funny – Golf is Dangerous

May 4, 2007 By Robert Owen

Happy Friday... Here is the Friday Funny for this week. A man staggers into a hospital emergency room with a concussion, multiple bruises, two black eyes, and a five-iron wrapped tightly around his throat. Naturally, the Doctor asks him what happend. "Well, it was like this," says the man. "I was having a quiet round of golf with my wife, when we both hit our drives into a pasture full of cows. We went to look for them, and while I was rooting around, I noticed that one of the cows had … [Read more...]

Friday Funny – Oh My!?

April 27, 2007 By Robert Owen

Sorry for the lack of relevant posts lately... I promise to have a Vista Update Soon. And, I'll post up some interesting things I've found this weekend. But, until then, here is this week's Friday Funny... Enjoy! "An extraordinarily handsome man decided he had the responsibility to marry the perfect woman so they could produce beautiful children beyond compare. With that as his mission he began to search for the perfect woman. Shortly there after he met a Redneck who had three … [Read more...]

Friday Funny – Sticker humor

April 20, 2007 By Robert Owen

The Friday Funny for today is another Gem that came to me in my e-mail. It just goes to note that you should never let an employee do important work on his/her last day on the job. The Kern County, California, Sheriff's Department orders plain white patrol units and has the graphics applied locally. In this case, what they ordered was not quite what they got. This car was driven for 1 week before an officer noticed what the graphics company employee did on the passenger side of the … [Read more...]

XP Error – Rthdcpl.exe – Illegal System DLL Relocation

April 10, 2007 By Robert Owen

It seems a recent Windows Security Update (KB928843 MS07-008) may cause an issue where the Realtek HD Audio Control Panel may not start after it is installed. If you are getting the error below: Rthdcpl.exe - Illegal System DLL Relocation The system DLL user32.dll was relocated in memory. The application will not run properly. The relocation occurred because the DLL C:\Windows\System32\Hhctrl.ocx occupied an address range reserved for Windows system DLLs. The vendor supplying the DLL should … [Read more...]
