PC Boots to Blinking Cursor

January 29, 2009 By Robert Owen

This is more of a note for myself than anything... If I put it here, I will have an easier time finding what I did if/when I run across this problem again. Had to reboot a working PC. No updates installed, no new software of any kind installed. It just simply locked up and needed a reboot. On reboot, after finishing the POST test, it went to a black DOS style screen with a blinking cursor in the upper left-hand corner. This could mean several things: Corrupt Hard Drive Bad RAM Bad … [Read more...]

Think of the symbolism of creating a cabinet level position to reassert the country's commitment to the arts. To be seen and heard, we must be at the table. Here's our chance. Quincy Jones has started … [Read more...]

Management Course Lesson 1: A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower, when the doorbell rings. The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs. When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next-door neighbor Before she says a … [Read more...]

Interesting Problem: Snipping tool is not working

January 2, 2009 By Robert Owen

I love the Vista snipping tool! I use it probably, every other day. But today I needed it and got this error: The Snipping Tool is not working on your computer right now. Restart your computer, and then try again. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator. Very odd. Of course I had about 12 tabs open in FireFox and three programs running so I resisted the urge to reboot and turned my attention to my friend Google. I ran across several blog posts about this very error. … [Read more...]
