Live in Knoxville?
Looking for a good deal?
Looking to save some money?
Thought about trying to use coupons but don’t know where to start?
Well then CouponKatie.com is the place you should start. There is a variety of information on this site. Not just grocery coupons (although there is plenty of them), Katie provides information about deals in other areas as well. Free Calendars from crayola.com, free Gym Classes, information on local events, Katie even gives you direction on coupon collecting.
From the couponkatie.com about us page:
Welcome to CouponKatie.com and my name is…Katie. I started CouponKatie because my friends kept asking me “You saved HOW MUCH!?! How did you do that?”…and I thought I should share the information I have gathered over the past year with the hopes of helping folks stretch their grocery dollars and realize the savings that can be achieved through a little planning and a lot of coupon clipping. I am a “never-have-a-moment-of-silence” stay-at-home mom of two and live in Knoxville, TN. I started clipping coupons and researching ways to save money in early 2009 more or less because of a wager with THE HUSBAND.
The goal of this website is to simply inform you of the best deals here in the Knoxville, TN area and to help you develop your own Coupon Strategy. Although I am here in Knoxville, most of the information posted here can be applied to your town.
CouponKtie.com is too great a resource to ignore! Be sure and give her site a visit (if you haven’t already)! What do you have to lose? You can also stay updated on Coupon Katie’s latest postings by following her on twitter.

I’ve said it before… But this time I mean it! The Site of the Week is back!! And… it’s here to stay!
Like the Friday Funnies, this will be a weekly endeavor to share some of the interesting sites that I run across whilst I trudge through my weekly work (and play) on the internet.
This week’s site, Misc Bytes, is a great site that really does seem to have a little “something” for everyone! Science, Tech, articles on blogging, even articles on Pets.
I’ve really enjoyed the content on this site since finding it a while back. There is a definite “Tech” lean to most of the content but, don’t let that dissuade you. Everything is well written and there’s lots there to see and, I think there will be lots more in the future.
Here’s a little info about the site and author:
I’m a divorced mother of two living in the southeastern U.S. I have a B.S. in Applied Biology from Georgia Tech, and I’m an animal lover and internet addict. MiscBytes is my blog with posts ranging from science news to articles about blogging to new Google features – generally a blend of things on or about the web, with a splash of science thrown in.
Take a minute or three and give them a visit. Hey, you could even leave a comment or two, if you like.
Check them out at Miscbytes.com, I think you’ll be pleased.

I’ve been helping some twitter friends with a new site, JustUsLeeg.com … Go check it out! Till you do, here’s what it’s about:
The JustUsLeeg started out with @bc42 and @thesnarkyone having a beer at breakers. They went to high school together and decided the next time they should invite some other friends to show up. Little by little people started showing up every two weeks to geek out and have beers together. We then decided to have a tweetup every other meeting (monthly) of the JL and invite the rest of Knoxville to the geekfest. It’s that simple.
I’ve joined in with the gang and will have to admit they are a good bunch. These tweetups are pretty fun and, educational too! We had a “lock-study” session. heh
Anyway, if you’re on Ye Ole Twitter and in the Knoxville area follow one of us then come out to a tweetup. You’ll have fun and learn something too!

I was looking at a post on Twitter and saw a reference to Wordle and thought, “what the heck is that?” So I did a quick Google.
I can’t see any usefulness to this but it’s pretty interesting none the less. Here are two Wordles I made from my RSS feed here.
Number 1:

Number 2:

Like I said… pretty interesting and neat. Why not give it a try for yourself? Just visit Wordle.net

Coworking in Knoxville

Filed under CoWorking, Site of the Week
A good thing about working for yourself can be the independence that it provides. But, some of the bad things about working for yourself can be the solitude and the lose of the ability to bounce ideas off others. Well, my wife was looking around Facebook a few weeks back and ran across a Group called CoWorking Knoxville and thought it would be up my alley.
Here’s how Coworking Knoxville describes themselves:
We’re a group of free-lancers, Web programmers, self-employed professionals, self-unemployed entrepreneurs, and various independent types who meet once a week in West Knoxville.
Rather than work out of home or solo out of a coffee shop, when we get together we share ideas, connections, resources, and strategies that help everyone grow their businesses and free up their time. We also introduce each other to new contacts and friends.
Coworking is one of the fastest-growing movements redefining the way we work across the country and has been featured in the past few months in Mother Jones magazine and The New York Times.
I decided to see what they were about so I joined the group on facebook and was invited to their weekly “meet up”. Since they don’t have their own meeting place they borrow space at a local Panera Bread. (If you’ve ever been to a Panera at lunch time then you know it’s a mad house!) I’ll have to say, I hate being “the new guy” in anything. Especially in something where you know no one and are meeting in a crazy restaurant. But I found them and all was well.
Although I didn’t get any work done (Although I did notice they would not bother you if you had work to do during this time), I did learn quite a bit about the coworking movement and met a good group of people. The group has plans plans to rent a space downtown in the future to use as an “office” for it’s members. They are calling this Knoxville Overground Ground and it sounds very exciting.
I don’t know what else I could say but that you should really check this organization out for yourself. The Coworking Knoxville Group meets every Wednesday from 12:00 to 4:00 at the Panera Bread at 4485 Kingston Pike Knoxville, Tennessee. This could truly be a great resource for any self-employed person.
Oh, and I can’t forget to point you to the website of one of the members, his passion for Fight Club has motivated him into creating some “Rules for Coworking“. That whole site is well worth a read!

It's been a while since my last Site-of-the-week… Sorry for the long delay but nothing has really shown through, IMHO, until now. My wife found this one and I think it's great!
FreeRice.com
FreeRice is a sister site of the world poverty site, Poverty.com.
FreeRice has two goals:
1. Provide English vocabulary to everyone for free.
2. Help end world hunger by providing rice to hungry people for free.
This is made possible by the sponsors who advertise on this site.
Whether you are CEO of a large corporation or a street child in a poor country, improving your vocabulary can improve your life. It is a great investment in yourself.
Perhaps even greater is the investment your donated rice makes in hungry human beings, enabling them to function and be productive. Somewhere in the world, a person is eating rice that you helped provide. Thank you.
This is a great site. I suggest everyone take a few minutes out of your day to define words and donate some rice.
