Vista SP2: At a windows update near you!

June 1, 2009 By Robert Owen

Windows Vista Service Pack 2 was made available today through Windows update. I saw that there were some concerns on the web on installing the update.People having "issues". There was one  report of a User having to do a system restore after the update completed because the machine became unbootable. But, I'm brave and need to test the update so, I plowed right along. It was a typical multi-stage update, similar to the Service Pack 1 Installation, but took a little longer. The primary … [Read more...]

Another Spammer Mail

May 20, 2009 By Robert Owen

Here's another variation on that silly, "We've got some money for you" e-mail scam. Oh and, FYI, the spelling errors are the Spammer's not mine. Obviously spammers cannot afford spell checkers. This is a scam!  If you get this, delete it.  After making fun of it of course. ATTENTION THIS IS TO ALERT YOU THAT THE POLICE HAVE GOT THOSE THAT EXTORT MONEY FROM YOU IN AFRICA WE ARE ABLE TO GET YOUR EMAIL THROUGH ONE OF THE CRIMINAL . THE GOVERNIOR OF THIS COUNTRY MR NELSON BEN ARE REWARDING … [Read more...]

Help The KSO!

May 1, 2009 By Robert Owen

I just got this note in my e-mail from the KSO fan group on Facebook: from the KSO Executive Director, Rachel Ford: The KSO needs your help. We are mobilizing in an effort to support restoring the KSO’s County Grant funding. As you may have heard, several other cultural agencies that have received … [Read more...]

Pretty URLS for WordPress on IIS

April 23, 2009 By Robert Owen

I've been playing around with my site again. Trying to work out the beauty of my urls. I thought they looked pretty good... Well, similar to what I'm used to from BlogCFC anyway. The urls were like this: www.owenwebs.com/index.php/xxxx/xxx/xxx etc.. Which is not too bad... Better than the default: owenwebs.com/?p=13 or something silly like that. But, I've seen them better around the web. And made it a goal to get mine to work that way also. After a bunch of Google-ing I found several … [Read more...]

The Pirate Bay is Going to the PO-PO!

April 17, 2009 By Robert Owen

Just saw over at  Ars Technica that the Sweedish Distric Court trial about the Pirate bay has ended. And, it appears it has ended BADLY for the Pirate Bay. Here's a clip from their article: The Pirate Bay "spectrial" has ended in a guilty verdict, prison sentences for the defendants, and a shared 30 million kronor ($3.5 million) fine. According to the Swedish district court, the operators of the site were guilty of assisting copyright infringement, even though The Pirate Bay hosted none of the … [Read more...]
